Zelensky proposes to appoint ex-PM to be new one
In a statement on Telegram, Zelensky confirmed that he had signed the necessary documents for Shmyhal’s appointment.
The move comes as part of a broader government reshuffle. Shmyhal had submitted his resignation earlier this week, which was approved by parliament on Tuesday, leading to the automatic resignation of the entire cabinet, as required by Ukrainian law.
Zelensky also announced that Herman Smetanin, the current minister of strategic industries, will take over as head of Ukroboronprom, Ukraine’s state defense conglomerate.
Until a new government is formed, the outgoing cabinet will continue to carry out its duties.
