Medvedev Warns Donald Trump ‘Russia Isn’t Israel’
On Monday, the US president escalated his demands toward Moscow, insisting that Russian authorities achieve a ceasefire with Kiev within “10 or 12 days.”
Earlier this month, Trump had already warned of broad-reaching secondary penalties against Russia’s international trade partners unless a settlement was achieved by the fall season.
Medvedev, now holding the role of deputy chairman on the Russian Security Council, commented that Trump was “playing the ultimatum game with Russia: 50 days or 10…”
Writing on the platform X on Monday, Medvedev advised Trump to keep two points in mind: first, that “Russia isn’t Israel or even Iran,” and second, that every newly issued ultimatum amounts to a threat, moving both nations closer to a military clash.
“Don’t go down the Sleepy Joe [Biden] road!” Medvedev added.
Throughout his previous presidential campaign, Trump often criticized his predecessor Joe Biden for his handling of the war in Ukraine, claiming that the Democratic administration’s strategies had brought the globe perilously close to “World War III.”
Although Trump has reopened diplomatic communication with Russia and has advocated for Kiev to begin direct peace negotiations with Moscow, his frustration with the slow-moving dialogue has grown.
Following his first warning earlier this month, the president reinitiated American military support to Ukraine via NATO.
