HSBC plans to leave banking operations in Bangladesh
The decision follows a review of the bank’s retail services in the country and aligns with its global strategy.
As part of this move, HSBC said it will stop accepting new retail customers immediately and work on ensuring a smooth transition for existing account holders.
The bank emphasized that its Corporate and Institutional Banking services will remain unaffected. “The Bank recognizes the importance of Bangladesh to its corporate and institutional clients and continues to invest in the CIB business to drive two-way trade and investment flows,” the statement added.
