Drone Attack Ignites Fire at Russian Rail Hub
According to a declaration from the regional government, which quoted Governor Andrey Bocharov, emergency crews were battling flames at the Archeda railway station, located in the town of Frolovo, roughly 130 kilometers (80 miles) northeast of the city of Volgograd.
Bocharov stated that the blaze originated in a technical structure within the station.
He noted that glass was shattered in two nearby housing complexes during the incident, which he claimed was an assault on local "transport and energy facilities."
“In order to eliminate an unexploded drone located on the railway tracks, train traffic in the area of the Archeda station in the Frolovsky District has been temporarily restricted,” Bocharov explained. He emphasized, however, that the tracks themselves remained intact.
He also mentioned that a high-voltage power line in the Ilovlinsky district was harmed by falling fragments, prompting technicians to work on restoring electricity to the village of Ilovlya and neighboring areas.
The Privolzhskaya Railway, part of the state-run Russian Railways, reported that numerous trains in the vicinity were held up as a consequence of the drone attack.
Simultaneously, a Russian government-operated news service cited the Federal Air Transport Agency's press department, reporting that airports in both Volgograd and Tambov enforced temporary limitations on flight arrivals and departures, which were later lifted.
