Ukrainian drone attack causes fire at railway in Russia
Authorities from the region, referring to the area’s governor, stated that emergency crews were actively tackling the flames that broke out at Archeda train station, situated in the town of Frolovo, roughly 130 kilometers northeast of Volgograd city.
The governor confirmed that the fire started within a technical building at the station. He also noted that the blast shattered windows in two nearby residential structures. According to him, the drone incident was aimed at the region’s “transport and energy facilities.”
“(In order) to eliminate an unexploded drone located on the railway tracks, train traffic in the area of the Archeda station in the Frolovsky District has been temporarily restricted,” he explained, clarifying that no actual damage was sustained by the railway tracks themselves.
In addition, debris from the strike reportedly caused damage to a high-voltage line in the Ilovlinsky district. Utility teams were dispatched to restore electricity to the village of Ilovlya and surrounding areas.
According to transport officials, the attack resulted in delays for multiple trains operating in the region.
