TIA’s new Cambodian airport to start flights soon

(MENAFN) Techo International Airport (TIA), the new airport serving Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh, is set to commence official operations on September 9, following the completion of construction, according to reports.

Mao Havannall, minister overseeing the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, stated that TIA will conduct a final test flight using an Airbus 320 on August 15.

“On Sept. 9 at 7:00 a.m. (local time), we will issue an official document publicly on the operations of the 4F-level Techo International Airport here,” he said during a final inspection tour of the facility.

The airport’s formal inauguration ceremony will take place on October 20 under the supervision of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, he added. “At this 4F-level new airport, it can accommodate the landing of giant-scale aircraft such as Airbus A380,” Havannall noted.
