Protest Erupts in New York Over Gaza Genocide
Brandishing Palestinian flags, protesters clanged pots and pans to draw attention to what they described as Israel’s starvation tactics targeting Gaza’s population.
The rally also spotlighted the targeted killing of journalists, including the recent deaths of Al Jazeera Arabic’s Gaza correspondents Anas al-Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqeh, and three others.
Signs held by the demonstrators bore urgent messages: "Stop extermination," "No Peace On Stolen Land," "You Cannot Coverup Genocide," “Israel Is Murdering All The Journalists To Kill The Truth," and "Bread not bombs, let the children eat!"
The New York City Police Department detained several protesters during the event.
According to Gaza's Media Office, the journalist death toll has climbed to 238 since the conflict erupted in late 2023.
Israel’s actions in Gaza have triggered widespread international condemnation, with nearly 61,600 fatalities reported since October 2023.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity linked to the Gaza conflict.
Additionally, Israel faces a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice over its military campaign in the Gaza enclave.
