Israeli police find top army attorney alive after searching for hours
Tomer-Yerushalmi had been dismissed from her post on Saturday following the leak of a video showing the torture of Palestinian detainees at Sde Teiman Prison in southern Israel. Reports indicate that she went missing in the morning, prompting Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir to order army forces to search for her.
Israel’s public broadcaster also noted that Tomer-Yerushalmi had left a suicide note at her home, though no additional details about its contents were provided.
The leaked footage triggered widespread outrage both within Israel and internationally. Tomer-Yerushalmi stated that she took “responsibility for publishing media materials to counter false propaganda by Israeli army officials.”
Human rights groups report that over 10,000 Palestinians—including women and children—are held in Israeli prisons, where allegations of torture, starvation, and medical neglect have led to multiple deaths.
