Blast Rocks Valero Refinery in Texas’s Port Arthur

(MENAFN) An explosion struck a Valero refinery in Port Arthur, Texas on Monday, as confirmed by local authorities. The incident quickly led to a significant fire at the facility.

Officials responded by ordering residents on the western side of the city to shelter in place while emergency crews managed the situation. Authorities also warned of traffic disruptions, noting, "Expect road closures in and around the area of Hwy 82 & 87 and traffic coming into this area from additional roadways," according to statements.

People living nearby were advised to stay indoors until emergency responders declared it safe, with instructions to wait for the "All Clear" before resuming normal activity.

The reason behind the explosion has not yet been determined. According to reports, no injuries have been recorded, citing local officials. The incident is believed to have involved a heater unit within the refinery.
