Saudi Arabia Halts In-Person Classes Amid Flooding, Heavy Rains
Footage circulating on social media platform X showed large volumes of water flowing through streets in the Saudi capital following intense downpours late Saturday.
The National Center for Meteorology stated that heavy rain affecting Riyadh was expected to persist until early Sunday, though conditions were forecast to gradually weaken over time.
Civil defense authorities urged residents in Riyadh and the Eastern Province to remain cautious and comply with official safety guidance amid the adverse weather conditions.
State-run media reported that in-person learning was halted at several universities and schools, including institutions such as Al-Baha University, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, and King Khalid University.
Earlier warnings from meteorological authorities had indicated that much of the country could experience moderate to heavy rainfall through Tuesday, raising the risk of continued disruption in multiple regions.
